Official Guide to Large Format Dye Sublimation & Inkjet Printing
File Preparation

Before sending in you digital files, please review the following suggestions to insure timely delivery of your product.

  1. We can accept your files via ZIP or JAZ (1 or 2 GB disks), CDD, 3.5" floppy or via email, only if smaller files or compressed archives are sent.
  2. It is VERY IMPORTANT to include a color matchprint of your layout with your disk. Seeing the contents of the art will enable us to check for any possible complications. Please indicate whether to follow your printout for color matching or to follow the colors indicated on the file(s).
  3. Files are created using the MAC OS will yield the best results. PC files can be sent, however, the contents must be saved as either Adobe Illustrator EPS or Adobe Photoshop EPS file in CMYK color mode. Black and white (grayscale) images can be saved as EPS or TIFF files via MAC or PC. PLEASE CALL US WHEN SENDING OTHER FORMATS OR WITH ANY QUESTIONS REGARDING READABLE FILES.
  4. All desired colors need to be specified. Do not use generic colors such as "green" from Adobe Illustrator of Corel Draw. Convert all CMYK colors. Digital sublimation is closest to the uncoated range of the Pantone Matching System. EXACT COLOR MATCHES ARE NOT ALWAYS POSSIBLE. Designers and Production Managers should refer to the Pantone Process Color Matching Guide, Solid to Process, to be sure of the closest CMYK equivalent to the specified solid color(s) desired.
  5. Do not supply logos or other linework illustrations as bitmapped art. Typographic logos and related images need to be saved as outlines in the EPS file format. Logos should be scanned as color or grayscale images @ 300 dpi at full size or 230 dpi _ size.
  6. All fonts used must be supplied. Both printer and screen fonts need to be included. Postscript fonts yield industry standard results. Avoid the use of TrueType fonts.
  7. Proportions of the final repro documents must be in scale to the final size. Use cropmarks to clearly indicate final dimensions.
  8. Artwork must allow for any special finishing (sleeves, grommets, etc.) without sewing through any "safe" area such as a logo or pertinent text.
  9. All support (image/logo) files imported into a page layout program, such as QuarkExpress must be included along with your page layout file(s). Save each layout as its own file - do not place two different layouts within one document.
  10. Scanned images need to be saved at an appropriate resolution of 300 dpi for continuous tone reproduction (photos and/or illustrations). A 12" X 18" Photoshop image @ 300 dpi between 80 and 80 MB will yield very good results when enlarged to 1500%.
  11. All files need to be saved in an editable format. Do not embed files in to a layout file. We will not be able to adjust an embedded file for final reproduction.
  12. Only send files needed to produce the final design.
  13. Transparencies and reflective art requiring scanning may be sent in. Art charges for adjustment and placement into your layout(s) will apply. Please call in advance to discuss the details requiring this service.
